Blanca wins "Water System of the Year" award for 2012

The Town of Blanca received the annual Water System of the Year award from Colorado Rural Water Association (CRWA). The award was presented at CRWA’s Recognition Banquet on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 during the 32nd Annual Conference and Exhibition held in Colorado Springs.

Myrrl Smith, Mayor of Blanca, accepting the award for the town said, “We are very pleased to receive this award. It recognizes the dedication of our Board and staff in providing safe, clean drinking water and in upgrading and maintaining our water system.”

The criteria for the award includes: – has no regulatory violations, maintains system facilities in excellent condition, provides employee advancement, training, recognition, maintains a strong budget within budgetary guidelines, provides annual Consumer Confidence Reports as required, provides safe, clean drinking water year round, and is considered in high esteem by the community it serves.  Is active in community issues, supportive of community projects, and strives for open and clear communication.

The Colorado Rural Water Association is a non-profit corporation.  For the past 32 years, CRWA has provided technical assistance and training to Colorado's public and private water and wastewater systems having populations less than 10,000. About 98% of Colorado's 2,095 public water systems serve communities that have populations less than 10,000.
